I’m half way there!

I can’t believe my 30 Day Challenge is already half done. It’s been an intense first 15 days but I am obsessed with Bikram. My body feels more connected, stronger and more energised than ever before. I also for the second time got asked by an instructor if I was a dancer! Apparently my form is very good and it made them think I had a dancers background. I explained to them that I may have a dancer’s from, but unfortunately not a dancer’s body. Yet.

I’m starting to hit a bit of a wall at the moment though - I’ve been informed that sessions 13-18 usually are the hardest for people. The daily build up of lactic acid and muscle tensions means bodies start to falter and joints start to ache.

I’ve had a couple of stumbling block where my body just doesn’t feel like it can do the move, but I’m realising how much it’s about your mental strength as much a physical. It’s about mastering your breath, staying in control and pushing through.

I’m trying to keep up with my hydration outside of classes, and peeing like a racehorse as a result. I was also told to try buying rehydration sachets from the chemist to replace the electrolytes you loose with mass sweating in the class. I did get rather an odd look from the lady in Boots when I decided to buy them out of Dioralyte in order to stock up - trying to explain to her I didn’t have apocalyptic shits was rather amusing.

The fatigue is coming and going, but the early mornings are getting easier, I’m just still struggling with getting to bed early, when I do, I either just stay awake as I can’t sleep, or  I fall asleep then wake up a few hours later and can’t sleep again!

So all the encouragement you can muster is needed over the coming week.

Namaste!
