Revolutionise your run with Nike Free 2014 and NikeiD
As many of you know, I’m a bit of a health nut – I love my gym time. I also love to run; there is not better therapy, in my eyes, than getting on that treadmill or hitting the open track and just running. So you can imagine my excitement last week when Nike invited me down to check out their new Nike Free 2014 range and try out customising a pair for myself – ahead of the general release on April 3rd.
The Nike Free 2014 range offers Nike’s most innovative running trainers to date. Paying homage to the famous words of co-founder Bill Bowerman, the new Free range focuses on the athletics body and movement – it’s about the feet, not the shoes.
“After 10 years of continual innovation, we’ve truly revolutionized the way these shoes work… By utilizing new technologies and the principles of natural motion, we’re really able to allow the foot to move for the runner in a way we’ve never been able to do before.”
– Rob Dolan, Senior Footwear Design Director, Nike Running.
The 2014 collection features three of the most significant developments in Nike Free since its 2004 launch. Watch Nike’s video with Rob to find out about the key breakthrough that helped propel Nike’s innovations – a multi-directional flexibility.
Make it your own with NikeiD
As part of the new launch, you can now also customise Nike Free with NikeiD. This is such a great feature from Nike, the chance to design your own look to complement your style. It’s really quick and easy to do and there are so many possibilities. Fro me, I wanted something classic and cool, with subtle detailing that would make them my own.
Choose your upper and Swoosh
Choose your laces and tongue iD
Choose your soles
I went for the new Flyknit upper with a 5.0 sole for maximum cushioning as I run a lot. Colour wise I kept it simple and had the lime/yellow colour throughout, I love the speckled effect on the mid sole. On the tongue I kept it classic with ‘NT’ and ’87’ respectively.
NikeiD take around 4 weeks to deliver. So I am currently counting down the days. I cannot wait for them to arrive. I’ll keep you posted!
The Nike Free 3.0 Flyknit, Nike Free 4.0 Flyknit and Nike Free 5.0 will be available on Nike.com and in stores beginning April 3.
