For this edition of Groomed I put the new Braun Series 3 shaver to the test to see if it lived up to its title of ‘world’s best selling foil shaver’.

The latest offering from Braun sees the 3rd rework of its iconic shaver – featuring an improved triple action, free-float system as well as increased motor speed and a new SensoFoil, for the closest of close shaves. The Series 3 is also completely waterproof, which is perfect for busy guys on the go who like to shave in the shower.

On the back of the shaver is the longhair trimming that auto-kicks in as soon as you slide it up. The shaver runs off a powerful Ni-MH battery that can be charged in one hour for 45 minutes of shaving.

The results of shaving with the Braun Series 3 are remarkable; it gets too close to your skin that it actually leaves you with that just-wet shaved smoothness. I was subtly impressed. The longhair trimmer is perfect for going at the bit first while long, I run it over where I want to shave down and trim in my beard line before switching over to the foil shaver. If I just want to trim down my beard, I used a super-thin barbering comb and then use the longhair trimmer across the comb to trim it down and keep me looking well groomed.

The shave is incredibly comfortable with the foil shaver able to work in any direction I send it; it also washes under the tap with ease.  The new, improved SensoFoil™ features ergonomically designed foil holes that give you the closet shave.

Check out the Braun Series 3 in a little more depth:

I caught up with some of the guys from Braun at LCM in January and was offered the chance to get my beard groomed by Braun’s Creative Director himself, Fabio Vivan. Braun where held up in The Apartment in central London where I met them for my shave. Watch the outcome below:

It was an interesting shave from Fabio, with men keeping facial hair on so much these days it is interesting seeing how shaver companies are adapting to the trend. The new ‘lining in’ of beards you see on me is becoming more apparent, creating a new way of utilising the product for beard lovers.
The LCM presence was all part of Braun’s sponsorship of the E.Tautz collection presenstation.

Overall the Braun Series 3 has a firm thumbs up from me; the shave is one of, if not these best electronic shaves anywhere in London. It has now replaced my old shaver on the bathroom cabinet
The Braun Series 3 retails at around £100 but right now as I type this it is half price on (Apologies if by the time you read this it is no longer the case!).
