It’s time for a brand new weekly column from our brand new Grooming Ed, Mr Neil Thornton! He’ll be checking out the most exciting products, the latest trends and the lolsomest treatments both here and in the magazine, so keep your eyes peeled…first up, it;s something rather exciting from Mr Porter!

Wednesdays are never much fun, so here’s hoping this latest bit of news will give your spirits a (non-surgical) lift. MRPORTER.COM has announced that from this very month, it is launching a dedicated area on site to men’s grooming brands. Carefully selected products have been picked by the MR PORTER team to offer all of the grooming essentials a man needs in one place. From skincare for the face to body and hair care from brands around the world, the specially curated edit will also be available in exclusive MR PORTER boxed gift sets. The best-of-the-best range will feature eight brands, some new to the site, some old faces (well, hopefully not once you have used the products) with greatly expanded offerings. Take a look at the top brands you need to know about, as highlighted by MR P, below.

A?sop
A firm favourite of beauty and grooming aficionados, the Australian brand’s use of plant-based ingredients over chemicals has won it a global following. It helps that the packaging looks pretty stylish lined up along the bathroom shelf too.

Baxter of California
Since it’s founding in the 1960s, Baxter of California has grown from a skincare range – it was the frustration of the abundance of pink or floral styles available and lack of masculine ones that spurred Mr Baxter Finley to create his own – it is now a full lifestyle brand with shaving, hair and body products also available, all paying homage to the label’s namesake state with their ‘easy-going, sun-drenched style’.

Czech & Speake
Based in the ever-fashionable menswear Mecca, Jermyn Street, in London, Czech & Speake are purveyors of traditionally designed and crafted bathroom accessories, from lush fragrances and must-see leather wash bags to can’t-miss fine badger hair shaving brushes.

D.R. Harris
A specialist chemist and perfumer, D.R. Harris was founded in 1790 and holds royal warrants keeping HRH The Prince of Wales smelling fresh. MR PORTER will be offering an exclusive soap dish and toothbrush cup set.

Le Labo
Putting exclusivity and ultimate luxury back into the perfume business, Le Labo specialise in creating limited ranges of distinguished scents, shunning the norm for mass-produced commercialised styles. Note for ordering though, MR PORTER currently cant ship cologne sprays that contain alcohol so if you want to get your hands on, or nose around their stunning fragrances, look tot he scented candles, oils and bath products.

Malin + Goetz
Incorporating a wealth of industry knowledge, from Matthew Malin’s stint at Keihl’s and Helmut Lang to Andrew Goetz’ 10 year run at a Swiss design company, Malin + Goetz specialise in making skincare easy – starting with sensitive skin. We’ve got our eye on the 1oz gym bag basics kit.

Perricone MD
Offering specialist products in preventative and corrective skincare, Perricone MD is the namesake line of Dr Nicholas Perricone. Whether you’re feeling the burden of age – skin sagging here, wrinkling a bit there – his highly-coveted three-step cleanse, treat and moisturise process keeps things simple and lets his product so the hard work.

Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella is 792 years old and still going strong, so it’s safe to say they must be doing something right. One of the world’s longest surviving pharmacies, whose history includes being often credited with the invention of the eau de cologne, it started out as a range of herbal remedies made by friars in a monastery and has now become a high-end line of skin care and body products, all of which are hand-produced in Florence using traditional techniques.
